How To Enable Zoom Original Sound

Stem Ecosystem | September 10, 2021 How To Enable Zoom Original Sound

When you enable original sound in Zoom, you are able to use the audio directly from your microphone without any of Zoom’s echo cancellation or audio-enhancing algorithms affecting the audio. This feature is useful for high-quality audio equipment that already has these features built-in. Since your Stem devices already have these features, you’ll want to enable Zoom’s original sound option to prevent your hardware from conflicting with Zoom. So, let’s go over how to enable the in-meeting option for Zoom original sound through the desktop client.

Let’s get started by launching the Zoom desktop client on either your Mac or PC.

After launching the application, select the settings icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Then select the “Audio Settings” tab on the left-hand side.

Click “Advanced” in the bottom right corner of the screen and check the box to “Show in meeting option to ‘Enable Original Sound’ from microphone”.

Note: If this option is unavailable, contact your IT Admin and provide them with the instructions below to enable original sound permissions Admin Advanced Settings on the web browser.

Enabling Original Sound Permissions in Admin Advanced Settings:

  • Log in to the Online Portal as an Administrator (not to be mistaken as the desktop software application)
  • Navigate under “Account Management” and go to “Account Settings”
  • Scroll down to “In Meeting (Advanced)”
  • Select the option labeled “Allow users to select original sound in their client settings”
  • This option will now become available when using the Zoom Desktop client application.
  • If you do not see this option you may need to log out and log back in.
  • Once completed, your users will have the option to enable the original sound!

Once that is taken care of, when your users start a meeting they should be able to see that the original sound is turned on. Don’t forget to make sure your audio settings are set to the correct audio devices.
